Properties: Demulcent,expectorant,laxative, and alterative.

 

Qualities: Licorice has a distinctive flavour and sweetness that comes from the glycyrrhizin that composes up to 25% of the root's makeup. It is often likened to the flavor of anise and fennel seeds.

 

Common Use: Licorice root can be taken intenally for bronchial problems, coughs, hoarseness, and mucous congestion. It can also be taken for stomach problem such as peptic ulcers and bladder and kidney ailments. It is also useful for asthma, allergies, chronic fatigue, emphysema, depression, enlarged prostate, fever,Herpesvirus, hypoglycaemia, and glandular infection, inflammatory bowel disorders, premenstrual syndrome, and menupausal symptoms.

 

Warning: 

  • Do not use licorice root if you have diabetes, glaucoma, heart disease, high blood pressure, or if you have had strokes, have severe menstrual problems or are pregnant.
  • LICORICE ROOT SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR OVER SEVEN DAYS.
