Origin: United States

 

Parts Used: Inner (not outer) bark.

 

Properties: Demulcent, emollient, nutritive, astringent

 

Common Use: (Internally) - bladder inflammation, bronchitis, colitis, constipation, ovarian cramps, coughs, cystitis, diarrhea, diverticulitis, dysentery, eczema, flu, gas, hoarseness, hemorroids, tonsilitis, ulcers, stomach problems gastritis,lung congestion; beneficial for Chron's disease; can be used as a douche or enema. 

(Externally) - burns, gangrenous wounds, hemorroids, tumours, open sores and wounds.
